Alfalfa

Alfalfa

The sprouts and leaves of alfalfa have been used to prevent cholesterol absorption, balance estrogen level, and remedy indigestion, arthritis, ulcers, anemia, and skin disorders. Alfalfa extract is rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins, making it an excellent natural ingredient for hair care products.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera

Aloe leaves have been used externally for general wound healing, burns, skin irritations, genital herpes, and psoriasis. Taken internally, aloe has been used for inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes, ulcers, candida, constipation, and other digestive tract disorders.

Avocado Oil

Avocado Oil

An edible oil pressed from the fleshy pulp of avocado. It is high in monounsaturated fats and has an unusually high smoke point, 520 F (271 C), making it useful for high-heat cooking. Unrefined avocado oil is a source of vitamins A, D, and E, amino acids, and sterols. It is also used as a natural treatment for dry and wrinkled skin.

Bilberry

A fruit closely related to blueberry and recognized as a source of flavonoids, including powerful antioxidants. Bilberry consumption may inhibit or reverse age-related macular degeneration and has been used for diabetes, cataracts, diarrhea, glaucoma, and hemorrhoids.

Chinese Angelica (Dong Quai)

Chinese Angelica (Dong Quai)

The root of Chinese angelica is used in traditional Chinese medicine for painful menstruation, anemia, pelvic pain, recovery from childbirth or illness, fatigue, high blood pressure, headache, infections, and nerve pain.

Chinese Chrysanthemum

Chinese Chrysanthemum

In traditional Chinese medicine, chrysanthemum tea may help prevent sore throat and reduce fever. In Korea, it is known for helping alertness. Pyrethrum, made from dried chrysanthemum flower heads, is considered a potent and safe insecticide and can also act as an insect repellent at low concentrations.

Chinese Goldthread

The underground stem of Chinese goldthread is used for digestive disorders, parasite infections, and menstrual cramps. It is also used as a sedative to help soothe anxiety and stress and has antibacterial activity that may support eye conditions such as conjunctivitis, inflammation, and redness.

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa Butter

A yellow butter extracted from cocoa beans. It contains a high proportion of saturated fats from stearic and palmitic acids and is one of the most stable fats known. Beyond chocolate production, it is used as a natural moisturizer for dry, itchy skin and stretch marks in pregnancy.

Flaxseed Oil

Flaxseed Oil

A source of polyunsaturated fatty acids and natural antioxidants that may help decrease inflammation. It has been used for conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, high LDL, atherosclerosis, heart disease, constipation, and skin irritations.

Used to strengthen the immune system, support overall health, and help fight stress and disease. Chinese and Korean ginseng have been used for fatigue, diabetes, and male erectile dysfunction. American ginseng has been used for diabetes and to help prevent cold and flu.

Grape Seed Extract

Grape Seed Extract

Derived from the seeds of red wine grapes and rich in antioxidants such as vitamin E, flavonoids, linoleic acid, OPCs, and resveratrol. Evidence suggests benefits for cardiovascular conditions including hypertension, high cholesterol, and atherosclerosis, and it has also been used for diabetes-related nerve and eye damage, macular degeneration, and cancer prevention.

Green Tea

Contains catechins, antioxidants that may help prevent cell damage. Studies report green tea may improve blood flow, support metabolism and weight goals, lower cholesterol, and support heart health. It has also been studied for prevention support related to Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and cancers.

He Shou Wu

He Shou Wu

Widely used in China traditionally for restoring black hair and other signs of youth. It is used as an anti-aging herb to support mental function with age, improve sleep, and support longevity.

Honeysuckle

Honeysuckle

Used for digestive disorders, upper respiratory tract infections including cold and flu, swelling of the brain, fever, sores, and urinary disorders. Honeysuckle is also used for skin inflammation and itching and to help kill germs.

Jojoba Oil

Jojoba Oil

A waxy oil that helps the desert jojoba plant retain water during drought. In cosmetic preparations, it forms a protective film over skin and hair to help seal in moisture. It is stable and effective for moisturizing the scalp and helping prevent dry skin or dandruff.

Peppermint

Peppermint

Used for common cold, cough, indigestion, nausea, fevers, irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, toothache, heartburn, cramps of the upper gastrointestinal tract, and for repelling mosquitoes.

Rose Hip Seed Oil

Rose Hip Seed Oil

Commonly used for skin conditions including dermatitis, acne, eczema, sunburned skin, brittle nails, and wrinkles. Rose hip oil is frequently used to support scar healing and reduce signs of photo-aging.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil

An essential oil from the narrow-leaved tea tree native to Australia. Traditionally used as a topical antiseptic and antifungal treatment. It appears to be effective for toenail fungus and possibly athlete's foot.
